Every single thing I tried here was delicious. The grilled kale salad was possibly the best kale dish I've ever had thanks to the smokey flavor and dressing. The prawns were good, very smokey as well. The scallops were perfectly done and practically melted in your mouth - the sauce & grilled corn were just an added bonus. The Brussels were 10/10. The seared tuna was also really good and the green sauce on top was very reminiscent of key lime pie but somehow savory - I highly recommend this if you're a citrus fan. The crab cake was liked by others at the table but it was too creamy for my taste - but it was nice and crabby with very little filler. The hasbrowns were interesting with an herbier flavor than expected. My dessert was an espresso martini and it absolutely hit the spot. I especially liked the cinnamon design on top. I'd expect cocoa powder so cinnamon was a nice surprise. The service was lacking but it was a very busy evening. The restaurant itself was odd in that it felt very fancy with the dishes and prices but I would've also not felt out of place in a tshirt because it was pretty casual too. Loved the open kitchen and being able to see what was happening.
I walked in for lunch on Tuesday July 2nd and was given a beautiful table on the patio overlooking the water. My server, Darryl, greeted me immediately. He was professional, attentive and personable throughout the entire experience, providing an exceptional dining experience. I had the charcoal brioche and the pork schnitzel and both were absolutely delicious. I'd highly recommend dining here and asking for Darryl as your server!
Great food, atmosphere and location. And very cold air conditioning. #############################################
We went to Ada's on the River for a second time after attending the Alexandria Old Town Home and Garden Tour. Besides experiencing the wonderful views of private gardens and homes, the weather was just perfect. Thus we decided to dine on the riverside. Ada's has always been our go to waterfront dining option in Old Town Alexandria and isn't just your typical waterfront dining with lobster rolls and crab cakes. They have five star dining options and all of their food is incredibly delicious! Even the cocktails exceed expectations. We highly recommend the chicken thigh appetizer, black brioche, and the scallops for dinner. Be sure to check out Ada's on the river for your next dining adventure while exploring Old Town Alexandria.
After our spa treatment, we decided to do a day date on the waterfront and went to Ada's On The River. I got a 1:30PM reservation on OpenTable while we were at the spa. However, during the day, I do not think reservations are needed. There is absolutely no bad seat in this place. The views are breathtaking. The service was terrific. Our server was Carso. He made us feel welcome from when we walked in until we left. He gave us some wonderful suggestions for drinks to kick things off. We then had the seared tuna as an appetizer. I would suggest eating it the way they plate it because the taste is extraordinary. Carso was so patient and answered all of our questions. He did a great job of sharing things we should try. We decided to order the 18oz bone-in cowboy ribeye with lobster mac n'cheese and creamy spinach. The steak was like butter in your mouth and seasoned to perfection. The lobster mac n'cheese was loaded and could have been a meal by itself, and the creamy spinach was a great veggie addition and was cooked perfectly. Everything was absolutely delicious. We enjoyed everything, and having Carso as our server made it even better. This was the perfect restaurant for any date, and we plan to come back for brunch at some point. Carso was generous enough to suggest other places to check out in the area that were within walking distance. Going to Ada's On The River was the best decision we made. I highly recommend you check them out.
Extraordinary! Made reservations and was greeted well. We took the option to be seated indoors despite it being nice outside with awesome views of the waterfront and the Woodrow Wilson Bridge. Ordered and the food came out in a timely fashion. The Old Fashioned Adult Beverage was refreshing, hit the spots, and awakened remote inhibitions. It is on the sweet side for a manly drink but smooth bourbon that will burn and the regrow the hair on your chest. The Swordfish Club was fresh and well seasoned and delicious. I opted to have the Russian dressing on the side but it was remarkably good. My brunch partner had the Lobster omelette, lemon ricotta pancakes and orange juice. She enjoyed it so much that she scheduled a girls brunch for the following weekend. Treat yourself for date night, it's indulgence glorified!
After perusing steak places in DC and being guffawed at the prices, I looked in Alexandria and decided on Adas. This is a great space that is nice to sit whether inside or outside. It just so happened that we were able to get a table outside with a great view of the water. Our waitress Abigayle was great and gave us the right amount of attention and without being overbearing. We ordered the house ground prime dry aged burger that came with fries, and a 10oz filet mignon with the brussel sprouts. The presentation was great for all of the dishes. The burger had caramelized onions and bacon which usually is a winning combination, but my kid wasn't the biggest fan. He said the best part was the fries. I ordered the filet to be medium and what I got was more toward the medium well/well done range. Can't say that it was tough to cut or eat, but for a 70 dollar steak I expected better. The brussel sprouts though were great and I recommend them. So the steak, sprouts, burger, a glass of wine and a mocktail came up to 146 before tip. Price could have been better, but compared to what I would have spent in DC this was better. Happy birthday to me.
This place is great for a cute date night, a weeknight catch up with friends or even a business meeting! They have ample indoor and outdoor seating. One of my favorite things to do at a new restaurant is to ask the waiters their favorites from the menu. Our waitress, Sarah, had some wonderful recommendations: the pork chop and the scallops. The pork chop was SO juicy and paired well with the grapes and jalapeños! The scallops were smooth and the bacon jam had a fun sweetness & crunch to it! I do wish there were more scallops that came with the dish though. We also really enjoyed the lobster mac n cheese- creamy, the cheese wasn't overbearing, and it had a good helping of lobster. Street parking was a little hard to find, but not impossible. Park Mobile payments for street parking. There are a few parking garages close by with a flat rate of around $20. This area is so cute with multiple docks, some seating to enjoy the river view, and a sidewalk to walk around the area.
Ada's on the River is a SPECIAL review, it will be my 777 review of all time. This year has been super filled with luck for me. Some call it luck others call it blessings.
